The Blackout Plate is the first completely unbranded, all-black specialty plate in Arizona history. No cause logos, no organization names, no competing graphics. Just a clean black plate with white lettering and “ARIZONA” at the top.

Standard Plate

ADOT assigns your unique plate number. ADOT keeps $8.00 gross and the remaining specialty fee supports Saguaros Children’s Charities.

Choose up to 7 characters. ADOT keeps $33.00 gross and the remaining specialty fee supports Saguaros Children’s Charities.

The Blackout Plate is ordered through Arizona MVD. Here are the details drivers ask about most.

How much does the plate cost?

The specialty plate adds a $25 initial and annual fee. Personalization adds another $25 annually, and postage is not included.

Can I personalize the plate?

Yes. Personalized letters and numbers add $25 per year and are subject to Arizona MVD review.

How long does delivery take?

Arizona MVD advises allowing up to four weeks for processing. Your plate and updated documents are mailed to you.

What happens to my current plate?

Keep using your current plate until the new Blackout Plate arrives.

Where does the $17 contribution go?

$17 from each plate purchase and renewal goes to Saguaros Children’s Charities, supporting more than 30 local children’s charities across Arizona.
